How does dance change your life?

“Nothing has prepared me for a career in medicine more than dance. Dance cultivates sensitivity, creativity, integrity, and curiosity; while also encouraging students to be tenacious and constantly working towards a goal. To become a great physician, you must possess each of these strength/qualities, and I am grateful that I was able to develop them throughout my time at Monona Academy of Dance.”

“Growing up, dance helped me in many ways. I learned self discipline from dance, time management, and it kept me physically and mentally well. From a young age you learn to control yourself and how to hold yourself. As I got older I was able to apply that to my everyday life - making me more productive and self motivated. I learned time management while dancing since I dedicated a lot of time to it so I had to learn how to get homework done, attend work, and still leave time for dance. In addition, dance helped me gain strength and develop flexibility which I believe are both key to being physically healthy and well. Lastly, dance was an emotional outlet for me - especially in my high school years. Pressure of finding colleges and jobs would build up inside of me and I could target that energy into dance and feel better after. I always felt good after leaving dance class and felt as though I was ready to take on my next challenge.”
